What we remove

Every claim backed by a test and a certification.

Filters only work on what they're certified for. We match the technology to what your test finds, and we use systems independently certified to the NSF/ANSI standard for that contaminant.

ContaminantWhere it comes from hereWhat removes itCertified to
PFAS"forever chemicals"Firefighting foam at airfields and military sites, industrial discharge, consumer products. Most often a well-water problem near those sites.Reverse osmosis at the kitchen tap. Large-bed activated carbon for the whole home.NSF/ANSI 58, 53 & P473
Pesticides & herbicidesatrazine, metolachlor, 2,4-DRunoff and leaching from golf courses, lawns and farmland into shallow groundwater.Activated carbon whole home, plus reverse osmosis for drinking water.NSF/ANSI 53 & 401
Pharmaceuticals & hormonesestrone, ibuprofen, carbamazepineTreated wastewater returned to rivers upstream of water intakes, and septic systems near wells. Found at trace levels.Reverse osmosis certified for emerging compounds.NSF/ANSI 401
Chlorine taste & odorcity waterAdded on purpose by your utility to keep water safe in the pipes.Catalytic carbon at the main line, so every shower and tap is covered.Media rated for chlorine (NSF/ANSI 42 cartridges available)
Hard waterscale, spots, dry skinCalcium and magnesium picked up from rock. Charlotte city water is naturally soft; some wells are hard.Water softener, sized to your measured hardness.NSF/ANSI 44
Arsenic & metalsarsenic, manganese, leadPiedmont bedrock under much of the region, and older household plumbing.Oxidation plus adsorptive media, or reverse osmosis at the tap.NSF/ANSI 53 & 58
Bacteriacoliform, E. coliSurface water reaching a well through cracked casings, flooding or nearby septic.UV disinfection, and shock chlorination of the well.UV sized to flow rate
Who should test

Private wells aren't regulated. Nobody tests them but you.

Public utilities test constantly. A private well gets tested once when it's drilled, and after that it's up to the owner. Some homes carry more risk than others.

Homes close to heavily treated turf

Golf courses apply fungicides, herbicides and fertilizer at high rates, and studies have found those compounds in groundwater beneath them. A 2025 study linked living near a course with higher Parkinson's risk. If your well is close by, test for pesticides and nitrate.

PFAS

Firefighting foam and "forever chemicals"

For decades, military and airport fire crews trained with PFAS foam that soaked into soil and groundwater. The Charlotte Air National Guard Base is one of the sites under federal PFAS investigation. Wells nearby deserve a PFAS test.

Wells with a drug or hormone detected

USGS tested about 1,100 drinking-water wells and found at least one pharmaceutical or hormone in roughly 11% of private wells, usually at trace levels. River water, which carries treated wastewater, shows them more often.

Union County wells over the arsenic limit

The slate belt under much of the Piedmont releases arsenic, manganese and other metals into groundwater. Neighboring wells can test completely differently.

Drinking water and whole home systems

Most homes need two layers: whole home treatment for showers, laundry and appliances, and reverse osmosis at the kitchen tap for the water you drink and cook with. Prices include standard installation by our licensed plumbing partner.

PFAS & Arsenic Removal

Confirmed by lab test

When a lab finds PFAS, arsenic or uranium above health limits, we design treatment for that contaminant, then retest after install to prove it works.

Every system we install

Carbon and RO stop working when they're spent. We track your filter dates, replace cartridges, media and UV lamps on schedule, and run an annual test to confirm the system still performs.

Questions

FAQ

My water looks and tastes fine. Do I still need a test?

Yes. Arsenic, PFAS, nitrate and bacteria have no color, taste or smell. A lab test is the only way to know.

Will the in-home screening turn into a sales pitch?

No. We show you the readings, explain them, and leave a written summary. If your water is fine, we'll tell you.

Is Charlotte city water safe to drink?

Yes. Charlotte Water meets federal standards and publishes its results every year. People filter city water for taste, chlorine, and trace compounds the standards don't cover, like pharmaceuticals.

Will a whole home filter remove PFAS and drugs too?

Whole home carbon reduces many chemicals, but the most reliable protection for drinking water is reverse osmosis at the kitchen tap. That's why we usually pair the two.

Do I need a water softener?

Only if your water is hard. Charlotte city water tests around 2 grains per gallon, which is soft. Many wells are different. We measure before we recommend one.

Does reverse osmosis strip out the minerals?

RO removes almost everything, including minerals. Our systems add a remineralization stage that puts calcium and magnesium back for taste.

Who installs the system?

A North Carolina licensed plumbing contractor installs every system, and all work is permitted where required.

How often should a well be tested?

Test for bacteria and nitrate every year, and run a fuller panel every few years or whenever taste, smell or color changes.
